So this happened today..

Back story: Im not one to call the police on stupid drivers unless it's really bad. Well, that happened today. Followed this guy for a few miles on my way home. Lots of swerving, crossing the center and outer lines. I wasn't going to call the PD until he slammed on his brakes on a 55mph road. (Video not uploaded due to the amount of my vulgarities spewed.) I came within about a foot of hitting him - broke (braked?) so hard it triggered my work trucks bad driver beeper . So I called my non emergency number, let them know who I was and what was going on. By this time he's behind me all over the place. Flies by, more swerving. The next two intersections he locks up his brakes and slides to a stop without hitting the cars in front of him. One intersection he slowly creeps into it - then stops. So I'm proving the PD with our directions, etc etc then as we're about to turn the following happened.

Air bag deployed, front wheel barely attached, driver was OK. Didn't get word from the PD as to if it was medical or inebriation but Im glad it ended like this rather than someone getting hit. Pardon my ghetto censoring as well, I have no legit video editing software.

Fun fact: those light poles are built on breakaway bases - they're actually designed to shatter like that for the safety of the driver. Sure it's a 75lb pole and the light house is another 50lbs, but it's better than the pole splitting the car in half.

Good to know. I often stand behind a pole like that on a corner because, I figured, if a taxi goes out of control and jumps the curb, it would protect me. Maybe not so much ....

Holy crap.

I keep putting off getting a dash cam but I really should. There was a guy two months ago that was on the highway in a yellow Camaro. I have never called on anyone because most of the time it's just been general asshattery but never any real danger.

This guy goes flying by me at about 90mph when I'm cruising at 65...not unheard of. Then he gets in my lane and goes down to 50 and starts to drift between three lanes. He then guns it while straddling the line, drops to 40, goes to 70 still drifting all over the place. I'm closing on my exit but realized that I'm basically buffering traffic from this guy and keep going. Toss my gf my phone and have her call on him. We have the direction, exit numbers, license plate, approximate year, make, model, everything. THEN HE SLAMS ON THE BRAKES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY...speeds away with me keeping a reasonable pace until the next exit where I said "fuck, i'm not speeding for this asshole" and because troopers are en route.

Idk what that was about either.

Nooope cause then you'll just have a big metal baseball bat flying at you. Working in traffic Im always cautious about getting hit and the best possible case. If it's 100% no chance of dodging, Im jumping straight up and pulling a head cover maneuver. Hopefully I'll make it over the front and the windshield will take the brunt of the impact. But lets hope I never have to test that theory.
